Dye Binding Capacity of Protein and Its Use in the Determination of the Ratio of Proteins in Wool Microfibril

The capacities of 16 proteins, after being subjected to electrophoresis on polyacrylamide gel containing sodium dodecyl sulphate, to bind Coomassie Brilliant Blue G 250 have been measured. It is observed that absorption is a linear function of the surface area of the protein in spherical (globular) configuration. The dye binding capacity of proteins has been used to determine the molar ratio in which the two components of wool microfibril aggregate.
